Oslo

Ah Oslo, the Tiger City. Land of Der Schrei der Natur / The Scream of Nature. Owner of a giant Santa Claus holding a… an ice-cream. Let’s leave it at that. The royal palace is surprisingly minimalist, which is a recurring theme of these Nordic palaces that contrasts with the much more extravagant English ones.

The Pride parade is interesting in that while it takes place in central city Copenhagen, the roads were only closed as the parade took place. Not hours before till hours after. Police travelling in front of the parade would close the roads and divert traffic shortly before the arrival of the parade participants, and once they had passed, the roads are opened shortly after. So efficient.

The DIY laundry place has a payment and operations system so bizarre that, even if you understand Danish, you probably still need someone to walk you through it. Luckily we bumped into a helpful local, who showed us how to use it and what pitfalls (wrong button presses) to avoid.
