Buskers Festival
The buskers festival is on again in Christchurch, and it coincides with the Lunar New Year. The Kiwi Beer Festival is also happening in North Hagley Park. The city centre is a hive of activities.
Funny enough, the Ben and Jerry’s shop isn’t that crowded today, resulting in us getting some extra calories. Maybe the buzz has died down a little…

And just in case you haven’t heard of Blackpool‘s Ken & Terry’s, here a photo of the shop circa 2016.

Berlin in Christchurch
I’ve finally seen the two pieces of the Berlin wall that’s been gifted to Christchurch. I wonder if the wall art is pre-existing when it was gifted, or that it was painted that after we’ve got the wall? It definitely brought back pleasant memories of my visits to Berlin. Originally I was to hitch a ride back to Berlin again in 2020, but it looks like Geoff and Kelvin have a change of plans. What a shame.
And of course there is Fika time! Any time is good for Fika.
Hmm… apple crumble… Yummy hot chocolate…
Happy 2020!
Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I last attended a New Year Countdown… The Christchurch event held at North Hagley Park isn’t half bad 🙂 Love the fireworks, even though it seems to have fizzled out a bit at the end – perhaps a misfire, but it was quickly corrected.
Stage in the distance Fireworks! More fireworks! Lovely lens flare when a spotlight shines right into the camera lens
Kaiapoi River Queen
We went for a trip to Kaiapoi today, and found that the River Queen is yet to be operational. Apparently it’s due to resume its river cruises any time now. Still, she is a real beauty. In any case, the Kaiapoi river is still lovely to look at when it isn’t threatening to flood the little river town by the same name.
No road trip would be complete with some coffee and cake… Is this considered Fika?
